1. Initial Research

To develop and identify the theme and visual aesthetic of my brand, mood boards, sketches and user persona research was completed.

3. Brand Guidlines

To set rules and standards that provide direction for how a brand should be represented in various contexts. The purpose is to ensure that all visual and messaging elements associated with a brand are consistent and aligned with the brand’s values, mission, and goals.

2. Creative Direction

To help define the scope of the project and outline all of the objectives, so a creative brief was developed. This consisted of an overview of the brand, a competitor analysis, a timeframe, deliverables and more.

4. Brand Collateral

Applying the brand identity, will help the brand to differentiate itself from competitors, increase brand recognition, build trust and credibility, support marketing efforts, facilitate storytelling, and strengthen brand loyalty.

Brand name & Logo development

The name “Nusantara” is derived from the Old Javanese language from the word “Nusa” which means “archipelago” or “island group.” It is often used to refer to the cultural, geographical, and historical identity of Indonesia as a nation.

The logogram is Candi Borobudur, also known as Borobudur Temple, is a Buddhist temple located in central Java, Indonesia. It is considered one of the most important and iconic cultural landmarks in Indonesia and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Pattern concept

The pattern is inspired by Batik Kawung, a traditional Javanese batik motif that features a geometric design of intersecting circles, often arranged in a square grid.

The circles in the design are said to represent the fruit of the kawung palm, which has four lobes and was traditionally considered a symbol of royalty, prosperity, and fertility.
